Phonak Acoustic Implants SA is 100% owned by the Sonova Holding AG and is located in Lausanne, Switzerland. Phonak Acoustic Implants SA designs and manufactures partially implantable hearing instruments severe to profund hearing losses.

Acoustic Implants is dedicated to develop the DACS (Direct Acoustical Cochlear Stimulation) partial implant hearing instrument based on the proven DACS actuator and the legendary signal processing capability of the Phonak hearing system.

The device is combining the best from both worlds:

• The signal processing and fitting capabilities are taken from the non-invasive hearing instrument technology
• The stimulation is done directly in the middle ear, avoiding feedback and other effects of normal hearing instruments

The device is therefore overcoming the traditional problems of cochlear implants (bad audio quality) and also many of the problems of traditional hearing instruments. It is especially effective for severe to profound losses, where hearing instruments cannot solve the problem and cochlear implants cannot bring the needed audio quality.
